Kevin Street
Born in Hamburg, Germany I went on to study politics and Russian
in Berlin which I concluded with the state examination for teachers
at secondary schools. I wrote my masters thesis on political consciousness
and participation of women.
I came to Ireland 25 years ago and taught German part time in
various language schools and the Civil Service training centre.
I started to teach in Kevin Street VEC as it was then in 1980
. Since 1991 I also teach Russian on the IBL International business
and language degree course.
From 1998-2000 I did an M.Phil course in Trinity in German Literature
and Language pedagogy which I concluded with a thesis on Exile and
Identity.
In 2003 I wrote a thesis on the experience and perceptions of
international Students in the DIT as part of my M.Phil in Trinity
in Ethnic and Racial Studies.
In my spare time I am involved in human rights issues and work
with refugees and anti-racist groups.
I have published with the support of my Amnesty International group
the book 'Human Rights have no borders' 1998 Marino Press.
